How can I make labels on the wall?

I've been looking at a range of wall decals available at Blik, etc, but simply not have the designs I want. I was wondering if anyone knew how to make them? Do you use a vinyl cutter and if so there is a specific type of vinyl use? Any information would be really useful. Thanks in advance!
