As a pilot in the Air Force, flying into battle to know that - whatever happens - there is someone on an airplane next to yours watching your back. This is your wingman -- someone willing to do whatever is necessary to ensure the success of the mission, even if it costs lives.
Outside of war, there is only one situation where the interests of the relationship between a boy and his wingman are higher: it is pick up a girl in a bar.
