Glass can be cut into strips, geometric shapes, circles, ovals, curves and with a glass saw, almost any shape.
Some things to keep in mind • Heat (glass crystal at room temperature) cuts easier than cold glass • Work surface should be flat • Score on the smooth side of glass rather than on the side of texture • Hold glass cutter in a vertical position, like a pen or pencil • Do not use excessive pressure. Too deep of a score can result in a bad moment • For protection, it'sa good idea to use glasses or other eye protection
Straight cuts When making a straight score, marking the start of glass from the farthest point your body and pull the glass cutter towards you. Once you make a score line, use running pliers (if strip is at least 1 "wide) by the placement of the forceps operation centered in the slot and gently squeeze the handle. You hear a slight click and see the glass separate along the score line. Or, hold the stained glass sheet over an edge of a table with the score line slightly everted rim. Use or break grozi pliers and apply gentle pressure in a downward motion along the scored line. This can also be done with your hands using the same downward motion. The practice will make perfection, soon.
Curve cuts To make a curved cut, use the glass cutter to cut sections one at a time. This allows you to work on the curve. Glass likes straight lines or lines with smooth curves. If the shape has irregularities or small projections, these are easily removed with tweezers or a glass grinder. In other words, do not rush cutting, especially if it is an inside curve. Just a little dent in it at once.
Court Circles Score the glass in the shape and the circle size desired. Use a permanent marker to place an item on the rating you to bypass the starting point. Next, place the end of the line glass marked on a piece of corrugated cardboard. Use light pressure and press along the score line until you see running the circle. Then turn the glass to the side which first scored and score several tangent cuts radiating from the circle. Finally, break each score line tangent with pliers Last minute. The circle is clean cut, no jagged edges.
How to avoid common problems • cutting wheel wears out quickly -- Lift the cutter up instead of sliding along the rim of the glass or cut on a surface covered with vinyl or carpet • bad luck after scoring - Too Pressure is applied on a glass cutter • Score line resembles the dotted line - cutting wheel is boring and needs to be replaced Make sure you put your template pattern over when tracing their pattern on the rear glass, where softer. Failure to do this will end glass and lost a lot of wasted time, not to mention frustration.
